Cincy Pd looking into events surrounding the Gorilla incident

The Police may be considering possible negligent child care, or reckless endangerment by failure of the surrounding fences. Until they show all the captured videos, security camera footage and still photos, who knows? Was no one else at the gorilla enclosure at the same time? What do the witnesses have to say?

Long ago I worked in daycare and I know how quickly a child that age and size can move from safety to danger when not closely monitored. I don't assume the Mom is negligently at fault but you have to wonder what else had her attention at that point, appeals to Jesus notwithstanding.

She should have known that one adult cannot safely watch 4 children in a public place with lots of distractions. She could have just as easily had a group of children from the daycare.

Young children can not be relied upon the exercise impulse control. Some kids are going to do what they want no matter how many times they are told no. It was a huge mistake to take her attention away from the one kid that wanted to go diving into the gorilla moat.

The woman has already changed her story at least once. Based upon the two versions she is said to have given, she is trying to make herself look less negligent.

She, at minimum, showed poor judgement not to have taken at least one other adult with her.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the investigation. It is very possible that they will also be looking at the mother.
