Why is he consistently put forth as a voice from the conservative side? His views have been wrong something like 100% of the time.

... is that it makes everyone thin they are going to be rich one day. That gives them a false sense of their productivity and mental acuity. As I've written before, the Republican efforts to diminish public education has resulted in the dumbing-down of our population. The result is we end up with numskulls like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and, frankly, John Edwards running for the most important elective offices in our country.

GAME CHANGE! DOUBLE DOWN!

Mr. French is a curious fellow. (Edroso has an extensive archive of his writings, many of which are nutty even by NR standards.) But the genuine hilarity is found in how the authors treat this as a legitimate scoop. It's written without a touch of irony. It has that sonorous tone that you hear in a Frontline narration, but it's about one of the most epic fools in American politics finding a sucker who can help him stay relevant.

...

I shudder to think of the consequences to the physical world we live in if this is truly what it appears to be—Peak Kristol meeting Peak Halperin.
