(19,038 posts)Completely calculated and appropriately brutal. Perfect speech at the prefect time. Donald will respond and this will cause him to further harm his campaign. Right now is absolutely let for Donald for fundraising and he's dead in the water. This also forces the hands of the GOP in Congress to own Trump, he's a 500lb lead weight around their necks in deep water.
This signals the Dems are going for the kill early on Donald with confidence they can parlay this into huge gains this Fall.

(4,558 posts)I've wondered how I'd have voted had she run. It would have been a harder decision for me.
I think Senator Warren would have been better at organizing the campaign than Senator Sanders was. I also think she'd have been much better at building a coalition of support, and likely would have gotten a larger number of superdelegates behind her than Senator Sanders did.
If she did build a strong coalition of of down-ticket progressives, and did the one thing I kept wishing Senator Sanders would do and work to change the landscape of congress, she'd have had my vote, and volunteer, and small bit of $$ support that I could muster. If she'd done like Senator Sanders and make it all about her campaign, and I saw the same 115th congress shaping up that I'm seeing now, I'd probably have stuck with Hillary.
I've been screaming to anyone who'll listen since last September that we need to get off of this hangup with who's at the head of the ticket and go all progressive/liberal tea party style on this election.. The tea party, for all of their f'd up views, did have one thing right. They never went after the POTUS, never even fielded a candidate. Their focus was congress, and damn they were too good at making those changes happen. We need to focus on getting congress replaced with real progressive and liberal candidates. In solid blue states, focus on getting blue-dogs and DINO Representatives and Senators replaced with solid progressives that can be elected. In battleground/swing/purple states, get the best we can get elected. In Red states, accept what we can get even if they are blue dog/DINO, and get us the majority in the chambers of Congress, empowering the Progressives/Liberals put in place in the Blue states. There was some of that, such as the Tim Canova challenge to DWS, but even that's more of a result of her support for Hillary than anything else.. still a good move, but not nearly enough.
