IF you had to choose....which would you choose?

If you had to choose between "buying a new computer/laptop" or buying a FUNCTIONAL car~one that will serve your purposes, but most likely won't be 'pretty' or 'fun' which would you choose? You can only pick one b/c you don''t have the money for both ~ which you 'seem to need'. So, which would you choose?

Uh-oh, I'm not a "star" member, so I can't initiate a poll. So I guess anyone who answers will have to "freestyle" it!

not like you would find in a metro area in today's amercia (lol).....not like what you would find in New York or Chicago. Orange county has NOthing substantial set up, except go to "the mall" ~ whatever it's called........all buses and airport shuttles GO THERE!

to run errands, then go for the jalopy.

You can get a cheap puter later. Keep watching auctions and for refurbished stuff at overstock.com.

I have purchased two computers this way for less than $50.00 each. They worked fine. Also school boards often sell computers and other equipment at the end of the school year. Check their web sites.

I've never driven one.....have ridden on them a few times.

I do know how to "drive stick shift" in a car, and that somewhat equates to a motorcycle, but I've never done it before. I'd need someone to teach/show me.

Then you can buy a car if need be.

In the meantime, bike, bus, train, walk.

Computer are much cheaper and easier to get. Also there are places that give computers to low income families/people.

Do I already have a car? Do I already have a computer? Is my work depending on either, both? Do I have access to other means of travel/internet access? Me personally, car, but I live 5 miles from the nearest place I could purchase a soft drink, much less any other essential supplies for the homestead. Would miss my WoW though.

A brand new computer would be nice but I don't see it being a necessity. Unless you have a great need for some really fast computer or great graphics I wouldn't sacrifice having a vehicle for bells and whistles on one.

Both are just fine. I would hate to be without my computer but with my car I could always go to my local library and use the computers there. So I would definitely choose the car...

You can pick up working computers for pretty cheap, they're pretty easy to work on and keep up. Bicycles are cheap, and even a cheap new one is extremely functional and inexpensive to maintain. I switched to cycling to work in 2008 and its probably close to the best decision I ever made.

A car, on the other hand, is a never-ending money pit. Gas, registration, tires, maintenance costs, etc...until you're too broke to keep it up and it just sits rusting in your driveway.

because I could use the computers at the library. Phoenix has a terrible public transportation system and with our triple digit temp in the summer walking is miserable.

It's an old hot rodder's and bikers adage but it's true, some of the most fun I've ever had in or on a vehicle is with the slower ones that you can just drive the ever loving snot out of without risking getting thrown under the jail.

On the other hand when you have a flashy and really fast vehicle that you have to soft pedal all the time to stay out of trouble it can get boring..

Personally I'd rather drive a 1983 Rabbit up/down the Tail of the Dragon than cruise the strip in a Lamborghini..

for almost nothing (or with a bit of luck actually nothing). But here in the southwest, where public transportation is for brown people and losers, a car is vital.
