Pope Francis Slams The United States For Its Brazen Gun Obsession]
By Ryan Denson on June 13, 2016 11:05 pm ·
Pope Francis, while appearing at the United Nations World Food summit, slammed the United States (and the rest of the world) over its obsession with guns after the terrorist attack in Orlando left 50 people dead and another 53 wounded. Calling the obsession brazen, the Pope chided world leaders for their strange paradox over the politics of food and international aid, but not guns:
It makes no difference where arms come from they circulate with brazen and virtually absolute freedom in many parts of the world.
The Pope also chastised the world for numbing itself to peoples pain, saying We are bombarded by so many images that we see pain, but do not touch it; we hear weeping, but do not comfort it; we see thirst but do not satisfy it.
Hours after the brutal attack, the Holy See released a strongly worded condemnation of the attacks, calling his homicidal folly and denouncing those responsible: .............

We are all one family and that is message number one!

(3,316 posts)Homosexuality is addressed in Catholic teaching under two forms: homosexual orientation is considered an "objective disorder" because Catholicism views it as being "ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil", but not sinful unless acted upon.[1] Homosexual sexual activity, by contrast, is viewed as a "moral disorder"[1] and "homosexual acts" as "contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity."[2]

So no.

(3,316 posts)what gets me is that the early church had women in leadership positions
there was a woman named Phoebe who was a deacon-which is a step down from full fledged priest in today's church; she's mentioned in the Bible but she's otherwise ignored
the early church was funded by women for the most part; I'm not sure if they'd be too happy being told to sit down and shut up
remember that the Bible was not a set document during this time so they wouldn't have known what Paul was saying to others

(11,862 posts)I understand that the Pope et al of the Catholic religion are not gay friendly, however, they do not call for the annihilation like the radical xian community
Hell, the way the Catholic church has changed over the years...who knows when gays will be accepted?

Talk minus action equals shit. When he does something about the rapist priests, the anti-LGBT policies, and the misogyny in the RCC, then I'll give a fuck about what he says.

(11,862 posts)3. 'Who am I to judge?'
When: July 2013
Why: On a flight back from his visit to Brazil, Francis struck a different note on homosexuality than his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, who had once described it as an intrinsic moral evil. In contrast, Francis had this to say about homosexuals: If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?
And this:

Here he condemns hatred for homosexuality

Blank Frank the PR Pope can say whatever he likes. He won't change anything. He doesn't want to change anything. Indeed there are those on DU who will tell you that he wouldn't be "allowed" to change anything.
Talk is cheap. Besides, he has enough important stuff on his plate, like deciding whether or not a sad excuse for a human being like Mother Teresa qualifies as a saint. (Spoiler: Yes)

(66,294 posts)The new ghoulish fad among gunfucks is to print paper targets of whomever they don't like. Just one more piece of evidence as to how deranged these monsters are...
LeftyMom
(49,212 posts)Well, at least since I was a kid.
I never saw that sort of thing before the murder of Trayvon Martin.
Some ambulatory piece of human shit began printing targets with a young man wearing a hoodie and carrying Skittles and canned iced tea.
I was sickened when I saw that.
