So who do you think will be the Republican nominee?

I used to think Trump's ego would not let him quit, but now I'm thinking that same ego would rather withdraw than lose. And it sure as hell looks like he's going to lose. I realize that polls this far out from the GE are pretty much meaningless, but a 70% unfavorable rating? DAMN! So, who do you think his replacement might be?

... but I think what the OP is really pondering is "will he STAY in the race as it becomes more and more clear that he will lose the GE?" (I'm not as convinced that he'll fold as others are - but I understand the argument that his ego would rather suffer a "quit" than a "defeat&quot , and if he DOES drop out, who will they install as the nominee?

I think it's likely to be Mittens because it might be thought to be easier to restart an old campaign than initiate a new one.

I think there is some truth to it, too. Big egos can't stand losing. I have a friend who's been saying this all along. She thinks he will eat up the attention until the convention & then step down.

what might happen. Many of his supports IMO have the potential to be quite violent. Same here, I would go nowhere near it or any of them. They're likely to shoot/fight someone, whatever, for no reason just because they might be pissed off if things don't go their way.

If the polls in October look like losses in landslide territory, would his ego be able to endure that. Or would he develop an extremely bad
dire health problem and have to withdraw, thereby saving face and a loser label.

Wed Jun 15, 2016, 04:48 PM
Jun 2016

I would still say he is the most likely person to get the nomination but I would say there is maybe a 30% chance they finally put their foot down and pick someone else. His approval ratings are historically low, he is down by near double digits in the polls, solid red states like Kansas and Utah are now in play, he refuses to raise any money for the party, and now he is attacking the republicans as weak and demands that they bow down to him, without question. One or two more weeks of behavior like this and the RNC may decide that enough is enough and perform a coup at the convention.
