Ryan on Trump: 'You Can't Make This Up Sometimes'

By MATTHEW DALY, ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON — Jun 16, 2016, 5:30 PM ET

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday he will continue to speak out in defense of conservative principles, despite a warning from Donald Trump that Republican congressional leaders should "be quiet."

GOP leaders "have to get a lot tougher and be quiet. Just please be quiet, don't talk....we have to have our Republicans either stick together or let me just do it by myself. I'll do very well," the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Wednesday.

The Wisconsin Republican says of Trump's comments: "You can't make this up sometimes."

Ryan said Thursday that he and other congressional leaders "represent a separate but equal branch of government" and vowed to "robustly defend the separation of powers."

it's nice to see republicans not entirely rah-rah-ing their presumptive nominee.

but in the end they would hold their noses and vote for lucifer in the flesh if he stuck an &quot r)" after his name.

...I'd vote for "Lucifer in the flesh" over Trump.

With Lucifer, at least we'd know what we'd be getting.
Trump....? Not so much.
