Charles Krauthammer, the conservative columnist for the Washington Post, is appalled that Republicans nominated Donald Trump. And as Trumps campaign gets closer to November, he isnt letting up, calling Trumps first month as the presumptive nominee "disastrous."
In Fridays Washington Post, Krauthammer mocked the idea propagated by Trump that the impulsive, reckless, improvisational candidate could suddenly turn presidential, saying that Trumps response to the shootings proves this is dead wrong ...
Krauthammer also ran through some of the other lowlights of Trumps campaign: "His two-week expedition into racism in attacking the Indiana-born "Mexican" judge. His dabbling in conspiracy
All of which suggests, and cements, the image of a man who shoots from the hip and is prone to both wild theories and extreme policies."
Krauthammer has been hammering Trump for months now, deploring his "breathtaking, bigotry-tinged cynicism," calling him a "conspiracy theorist" and a "fabulist," and criticizing his refusal to condemn violence against protesters ...

(9,898 posts)With Reince Priebus trolling GOP state leadership, this is starting to sound like some of the old guard are going to make a Hail Mary effort to find another nominee.
I'm really starting to like having Trump as the GOP's candidate.

(82,849 posts)Methinks you (and the Republicans) might have checked under the hood before buying this used car. But I suppose you were all so enthralled with the salesman's patter to be suspicious that all was not as it seemed to be. See, if you were poor, you might have smelled a rat. Wealthy people just think they can buy their way out of anything, except that you and the party only get one presidential nominee each quadrennium. Now you're sort of stuck with this lemon, in spite of everything we dirty fucking hippies have been telling you for the last year. Instead, you and your ilk sneered at us like we didn't know, and you were sooooo confident that you were nominating someone who could beat our asses but good come November.
Nerve failing you, Mr. Krauthammer?

(10,094 posts)Oh please, your party has not just taken an expedition, it has take a few round the world trips into racism for decades. Just because your nominee does it a little less subtle than previous nominees doesn't mean he's some wild anomaly. I am enjoying the supposed shock these elites have in him winning the nomination, but unlike some others here, I am not getting any pleasure from the rise of this candidate, he scares me.

(17,573 posts)I do confess a small amount of snarky satisfaction at the internecine warfare unfolding in the republican party. But the scarier part is that they just could manage to get their shit together and actually pose a credible election challenge in November. And I can't see ANY conceivable variation on the outcome that is any less bad than Trump. So while the conflict on their side can be amusing, it is still a very dangerous situation for the country. (It's not like they're going to "dump Trump" and nominate Susan Collins or any other actual moderate republican ... are there any moderates left other than Collins? And she's not great, just not as far around the bend as the others.)
