Accused Killer of UK Lawmaker Makes Defiant Court Statement

The accused killer of British lawmaker Jo Cox has given his name as "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain" in his first court appearance.
Thomas Mair, 52, made his defiant statement Saturday in Westminster Magistrates' Court in London.
He was charged overnight with murder, inflicting grievous harm and gun offenses in the slaying Thursday of 41-year-old Cox.
The killing brought Britain's European Union referendum campaigning to a halt.
Cox was an advocate for keeping Britain inside the EU and had argued for better treatment of Syrian refugee children.
