My Shrimpy died today. June 19 (posting in GD because this is my usual forum.)

My baby girl, my little 5 pound Pom. So much more than a dog. So full of love, which she loved to share.

The story, on FB

💔Saddest news, everyone. My baby, Shrimpy, died today.

It was in the best possible circumstances, it's all very mystical...surrounded by friends who love us both, at the Buddhist meeting at my house this morning.

The meeting had just ended at about 11:15am, we chanted nam myoho rengé kyo three times to close--and suddenly she jumped off the back of the couch and landed at my feet.

My dear friend George drove us to the emergency hospital, I was doing CPR the whole way....but it was instant. She didn't suffer at all.
I'm in shock...my dear friend Luther came to the hospital and was the support I needed.

Mama loves you forever, baby 😪.
Be reborn quickly and come back to me. 👼

I'm at Luther's place where I'm with friends. Ittybitty is with me of course.

I'm not articulate when it comes to emotional stuff..... and it's still too surreal. She's my heart....what can I say?

11:00pm
Just woke up after crashing out of shock and exhaustion---am going to be chanting Nam Myoho Rengé Kyo for a while.

2. I am so sorry for your loss.

It is an indescribable pain that we feel when we lose a beloved pet.

When we lose a loved one, we say goodbye to a part of our lives. When we lose a pet, we say goodbye to a part of ourselves - that part of our heart that they managed to steal the minute they came into our lives.

I guess the only way is to *feel* the sadness. I actually feel kind of strange when I'm "doing good". As if it means I'm forgetting her or didn't love for real or something.

Strength and comfort to you. ❤️

58. Thank you, I will

You're right, it's draining.
Sobbing for hours is too.
Disbelief is too.

She was only eight.
There were many mystical aspects to the whole event, but that was on Subday. Today, the wondrous is dissipating, and it's an empty place that wasn't supposed to be there yet. It hurts.

Sometimes it scared me, how much I loved her.
Grief...god it hurts. 💔

latest blood work showed his kidney disease has progressed to the last stage. He has been battling it for years and diet and meds have extended his time , but alas none of us live forever in our current form on earth . He is not showing any symptoms yet, but just hearing the facts of the test has given me a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.
You didn't get that knowledge with Shrimpy so sudden how it happened and my sympathy to you on that also. Shock will take a strain I know
Condolences on your pain and separation and at some point later may you have some comfort in knowing she passed in peace

111. Oh I love that poem.

The name of the song is, "Song Celestial"? I want to check it out.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. Sudden, or through decline, there's no "less painful" way. But I will say, the feeling of being sucker punched doesn't help. I want my baby back! :'(

Intellectually I believe the message of that poem, but being a mere mortal, it's so heartbreaking to lose the physical touchstone.

46. My TK kitty died - most likely plague - Black Death

It is endemic here in NM - All of our mammals out here are gone - no voles, rabbits, raccoons....., and 2 other neighbors have lost cats.

57. My heartfelt sympathies to you, Blanche.

There really aren't any words to say that could ever soothe the grief you're feeling right now, it's so hard. I know that when I lost my dear little kitty a few years ago, I got stuck on crying why did she die so young...we had other fur babies who were twice her age and the shock of that precious critter's early death left me haunted and so sad for far too long.

All I can offer is thoughts of peace and strength and the hope that sooner, rather than later, you'll be able to find yourself smiling again, when thoughts of your little Shrimpy girl come to mind.

59. Thank you!!

Yes we pet lovers know...

I've lost all my most dear loved pets far too early, and through accidents. Well this is the third. She was only eight.

I got a second puppy last summer, thinking one day I will need the love because I love my Shrimpy Sooo much, and she'll have to go sometime...I just wasn't expecting it so soon.

70. I'm so sorry--what a horrible, horrible shock

Losing a beloved one is hard enough, but when it comes so suddenly it feels like the entire universe is upended.

It sounds like you had a really extraordinary connection with her, and something like that does not end even with death.

My heartfelt sympathy to you.

112. Yes. My little baby boo,

My punkinny punkin.

I want my baby back in my arms. She loved to be held, and would lay her head against my chest. Everyone who met her fell in love--not just cuz she was adorable, but because her personality was so friendly and funny.

They say souls know when their time is here, it's pre-planned, so to speak. That's comforting in that it makes some sense of a senseless freak accident. But it doesn't take away the separation pain. I got sucker punched.

God I'm tired of this karma in my life.
