"The pro-Brexit vote in the U.K. is a cry of defiance by whats left of that Anglo-American white tribal faith, and the decision to leave the European Union should send a shudder through those who think that Donald Trump is a xenophobic, racist nationalist with no chance to win the U.S. presidency."

(701 posts)Europeans generally are more activist and political. I wish the Greeks would have left EU and told the bankers where to go.

(15,882 posts)All the problems are still there. The UK just said they don't want to be part of the solution. That's what losers do.
The rest of the world, grownups mostly, will move on.

(701 posts)Why do you disagree? I won't vote Trump but do agree that countries look out for themselves if they are smart. Have you ever wished the south had seceded?

Countries, if they are smart, invest in their people and direct their future. They don't take payoffs from bank$ter/jihadist donors and screw over working people.
An injury to one is an injury to all. They cannot hurt immigrants, or anyone else, except by hurting themselves.
The so-called revolution is nothing but a lot of selfish bastards trying to help themselves by only pandering to their own short-term interests. They will get everything their little bitty minds can conceive, I am sure.

Regardless, your knowledge of American history between 1900 and roughly 1980 seems horribly insufficient. You should go do the reading you were assigned those many years ago. They did that so you wouldn't sound like you were wasting other people's time today.
So go read, and I will do other things. Bye.

(701 posts)My opinion? You don't have the facts you engage. Quit comics. Find yourself some real history books. Start with Howard Zinn.

(36,649 posts)This the cry of bigoted, xenophobic, nationalists against the foreign horde.
Brexit isn't a victory for liberals, it's a victory for fascists.

(701 posts)You see it through one lens only. That is the myopic view of Americans on so many things. BTW, they are being immersed in immigrants but we take few comparatively including refugees. Are you really one to criticize?
BTW, why not a North American Union allowing Canadians, Americans and Mexicans to mimic the EU? Would that be okay with you?

(25,111 posts)other parts of Europe. Second as to the presidential election, Electoral votes win, not popular votes (which it sounds like most Americans don't know).
Thirdly, I have a feeling that most Brits, once they realize that they f up their country will have second thoughts but the damage has been done.

(29,189 posts)that our Brexit vote is not a referendum, but a vote for a person... a loathsome braggart.

(701 posts)We live on a relatively peaceful continent. Not so the Europeans. When I challenge my frtiends with that scenario, they are fine with Canada but not so much with Mexiso. I wonder why?
