Bloody skirmishes broke out near California’s capitol building in Sacramento Sunday as self-described “anti-fascists” attempted to break up a white nationalist rally. Ten people were injured, including two who were stabbed and critically injured, according to CNN.

At noon, the Traditionalist Worker Party – described as a white nationalist hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center — and the Golden State Skinheads, a local affiliate, were scheduled to hold a rally at noon outside the Capitol building.

As they assembled, however, the roughly 30-strong group was met and outnumbered by a wave from several different organizations, including Antifa Sacramento and the Black Hawks, who were present with the stated purpose of preventing the white nationalists from demonstrating ...

Matthew Heimbach, leader of the Traditionalist Worker Party, was not at the rally but told CNN that TWP members armed themselves with knives, with blades within the California legal limit. He said they'd been threatened on social media forums. An affiliate group, the Golden State Skinheads, joined them for the rally, he said.

Yes, there is a difference, although from 3000 miles away they may look the same. One has diversity of thought; the other, not so much. And that matters in discussion and attitudes.

Plus, it doesn't matter for this even if they were the same. Some are saying, "But the neo-nazis had knives!" So? Oh, I get it. They had knives and so could defend themselves. It's a human right to be able to assault them and beat them to a pulp without risk of personal injury. Sorry. If you want to instigate violence you can't object if your attack results in injuries to your side. It would be like Haman complaining that defense against his guys was unjust. Or a group of settlers new to an area attacking a Native American village and complaining about losses.

The commons may be turf, but it's common turf and not partisan turf.
