(3,867 posts)Insanity that some moron congressMAN wants to tell a woman what to do with their body. Remember the one that wanted to have a vaginal probe done before an abortion was performed?
"Legitimate rape", women have a way of shutting down their body so they don't get pregnant.
Avoid pregnancy the old fashion way, an aspirin between the knees.
You have to search high & low to find people so stupid.

Sadly, just pardoned...by this very same Supreme Court. It appears that Virginia has very lax standards for "bribery."

(171,035 posts)the women in TX won't have to take their pregnancies into their own hands, as I've read they've been doing. This is a BFD!!!
sheshe2
(83,654 posts)A BFD, bsis!
In 2016 it appalls me some had to resort to self induced or back street abortions.

(5 posts)Screw the rightwing morons who want to exercise their control over what women want to do with their bodies. They are a bunch of misogynistic tools. It's astonishing that we're STILL talking about this in 2016.

(81,125 posts)OUR bodies. OUR choice!
NOT some politician - usually a male politician at that.
NOT some priest, minister, ayatollah, or mullah - also male.
NOT some government body that then chooses to cut the services, programs, and supports for women, many of them single moms trying to juggle poor-paying jobs and more than one kid - alone.
If, indeed, they REALLY believe in small government, then the answer is NOT to make sure they can still fit all that government into a woman's vagina.
If, indeed, they REALLY believe in getting the government out of your life, that has to include getting the government out of your bedroom (and out of a woman's vagina!).

We are women and we know our bodies. The men that love us know as well. We are one.
Thanks. Ilsa.

I'd almost respect them more if they simply came right out and said "yeah, we hate women, and we want to control them."

(5,902 posts)Personally, I don't like the idea of abortion - which is partly why I'm staunchly pro-choice.
Restrictions on access to safe, legal abortion services only drive up the number of illegal (and usually unsafe) abortions. To what degree, we may never know because illegal abortions are, of course, unreported.
We do know, however, that the rate of maternal mortality has almost tripled since Rethugs began their all-out assault on choice in the early '90s - and botched abortions are mostly to blame (to say nothing of the many women injured and rendered infertile for life).
What I'd ask these holy rollers is: how many babies, pray tell, have all those maternal deaths saved? (and do y'all even care?)

(40,416 posts)As a man I insist on deferring to women on these issues. Just as my mother taught me.
She was correct. Men have no business in women's health choices. My father, a life-long Eisenhower Republican, was horrified about this as well. He easily deferred to his lifelong spouse on it.
I was well taught. Having two sisters and no brothers helped as well.

(9,895 posts)I have a grandmother, mother, sister, wife and 3 daughters that ALL deserve the full and equal treatment given to men without a second thought. The fact that we live in the 21st century and are facing what may very well become an existential threat to society in climate change and how humanity adjusts to its effects and the changes it will force makes this more urgent than ever.
My wife and I have an equal partnership and have imparted that philosophy on our daughters AND our sons their entire life. Being a woman is not a condemnation or sign of weakness or license to be treated poorly or differently.
Patriarchal structures and rules and laws and habits need to go to the dustbin of history.
