A bare majority of 51 still allows the Republicans to block any major legislation. So any demands about what the Democratic nominee must state to "earn" people's allegiance will be just that--an appeasement statement. Promises or positions don't guarantee those promises will be achieved one bit, no matter how hard the president works for them.

Still, even a slim majority means a majority--and that means judgeships can be filled, committees will be chaired by Democrats, and the agenda will be a Democratic agenda. So, yay!

Not Sanders.

Warren, maybe, but we really need somebody who can pull a few republican votes when we need them.

A moderate would be a better choice.

But, Reid has already said that SCHUMER will be either majority or minority leader when Reid retires.

I did not know that leader position was selected by previous leader. I thought they had to have a vote of some kind.

The job requires negotiation and cutting deals, not advocating the "right" issues.

Because our numbers suck in 2018 as bad as the GOP's numbers suck this year.

That's why we should give up no US Senate seat for a VEEP, especially a senator as powerful as Elizabeth Warren. We need her there, to help backstop President Hillary Clinton.
