Reality TV and news infortainment are cut from the same cloth. Both thrive on a conflict driven model and are most successful when they promote offensive incidents and obnoxiousl behavior. Thus, the opposing sides arguing format of news infotainment.

It seems that he has been successful in tapping into the ugliness that leads people to enjoy both. Sort of clever, but also disgustingly cynical and I believem clear evidence of the destructiveness of the media as it stands today.
