Will it continue with a new host/hostess?

Will he still do "It was a quiet week..."?

GK IS a national treasure!

I think Keillor was a real influence in my own writing style. I have never gotten over the thrill of not knowing where the tale was going and learning to love characters who are just people, being people.

I met him once at a fundraiser for John Kerry. I was just one of a hundred in line shaking his hand, but I never more pleased to see someone. Well, Jimmy Carter maybe, but not too many more.

Living in Minneapolis. Back then he broadcast from a house in the suburb of Bloomington (don't know if that was actually true, but he incorporated the image of a little house/radio station). That added the touch of quaintness/small town vibe Garrison loved to invoke. In my mind, from the broadcasts, the station was a small house sitting in a suburban neighborhood with a lawn in front and a flag pole. The broadcast included his inventive "Buttermilk Powdered Biscuit" commercials which Garrison carried over when he started his broadcast show from St. Paul. Even then it was apparent that his brilliant talent and development of PHC would gain fame.

moving, important, amazing. He came out as an encore to sing alone with the audience in hushed tones...all together as human beings, singing melodies we all know and grew up with. Hard to not get chocked up. Such a good guy.

Did not hear anything at the performance related to Obama calling in.

What a run--40 + years. And, Keillor is only stepping down due to health concerns, I believe.

The show has a long history; it has existed in a similar form since as far back as 1974 and borrows its name from a radio program in existence in 1969 that was named after the Prairie Home Cemetery in Moorhead, Minnesota, next to Concordia College.
