discounting all vandalism and violence, what do I do with this shit? It's a big family of fundy church goers , right across the street. we go back a ways: Her Coleman sign was matched with mine for Paul Wellstone....but we manage to be cordial. last winter when she noticed we had no snowblower, she ran hers up and down my driveway till it was perfectly clear. Was a huge dump of hard snow and would have taken a couple of hours to move it.
So I can't be mean.
i need two things from the People of DU. what, seriously, would you do, and then, in your wildest (but not violent, demeaning or hateful,) fantasies, what would you do?

(40,207 posts)I would fine a beautiful rainbow sign that says something about standing up for marriage equality along with a biblical quote about loving your neighbor, or something like that.

But there are times when thoughts of flaming arrows run through my head.

(1,326 posts)I would allow her to have her freedom of speech, of course- as much as I disagree with it. My half-serious, half-joking response as a Christian would be to pray for her.

(49,212 posts)I wouldn't miss them if they accidentally wound up wrapped around somebody's political sign. Or if my bottle of spray glitter were suddenly half empty, I wouldn't really notice.
It's not vandalism. It's enhancement.

Fantasy: Regular gay pride parties on my front lawn.

But if it were me I would let it go because there is no winner in a yard war like this. Love thy neighbor.

Or just quietly place it in their sharpest shrubbery they got. Real deep (make sure you wear flannel when you do this!)

(40,416 posts)It states your position without confrontation. Your neighbor may even come over and ask you, "what's with that?"
It might serve as an educational moment for your neighbor.
But, if he has NRA or SYG signs, I would ignore my advice.

(639 posts)two squirrels or two of The Lord's critters so it ain't innerdenamenotional 'n such. Dress em up as bride and groom. Mini shotgun with mad papa would be a nice touch har de har har. Set em up in front of the sign. With some flowers.

(36,827 posts)A sign like that just advertises their ignorance and intolerance. Some people manage to make complete asses out of themselves and don't need help. Fortunately my HOA has a rule against signs like those.

(1,412 posts)way or another. Well, maybe a bumper sticker supporting marriage equality. Good relationships with neighbor's are more important.
Also,it's not a good idea to start a "sign war" in your neighborhood, that would be pretty unsightly.
