There are millions of American know-nothings, bigots, haters, sexists, and just plain fools living among us. But I don't believe there are enough of them to put Donald Trump in the White House.
(However, if the numbers are close enough, they can steal the election. Cant be done, you say. My answer to that is check out the SCOTUS theft in the year 2000, and the Ohio theft in 2004. We had George W., who was never elected, sitting in the White House for eight years, acting as Dick Cheneys front man.)
But to get back to Trump. I dont think he and his minions have key people, in the right positions, in critical states, to steal it. Which means the chances of Trump becoming president are virtually nil.
The only reason that anyone thinks a Trump presidency is possible is because of media hype. Theres a rule in the media. If it bleeds, it leads. What that means is that, mass shootings or any shootings, beheadings, plane crashes, shark or tiger attacks, and anything with blood involved will always be the first story printed, televised, talked about, and presented in all media outlets, in any way possible.
If theres no blood on a given day, Trump is the media fallback. He can cut a fart and pundits will talk about it non-stop throughout the entire news cycle. (Theyll even have experts on the mechanics of farting.)
But heres the thing. Each and every one of us has to show up and vote. And that means every Democrat and unaffiliated voter. If that happens, Trump will lose in a tsunami. And I truly believe that its the very existence of Trump himself, and every word that comes out of his mouth, that will make that tsunam possible.

Donald Trump has been a windfall for the media. Just ask Les Moonves, CEO of CBS who said, "It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS."

(15,027 posts)Over the past year or so, virtually every time I tuned into cable news (any channel) Trump was the topic. On the screen was pundits interviewing other pundits about Trump. It took me a while before I started ignoring them and their very existence.
