What is the "down side" of Republicans holding hearings on Clinton's congressional testimony?

The way I see it, they will be seen as extraordinary sore losers and political hacks, and the hearings as a blatant political vendetta by all but the hard core.

More Republicans will lose congressional seats if they even try. And if they go through with it and when Hillary comes on strong like last time. . . . Well, they can't afford to take that chance.

I think they are just saying they would like hearings because they are mad things did not go their way. If I'm right, they will have dropped all mention of it by Monday.

What am I missing?

And the more they talk and whine, the more they leave themselves open should they put a foot wrong in any aspect.

I've already seen one post on Facebook with Gowdy going point by point with Comey. The risk is that "liar" and "crooked" are repeated enough to catch. Voter apathy is our biggest threat.

3. It's just a GOTV move - red meat for the rabid base

The only thing it does for indies and Dems is keep perpetuating the already oversaturated "crooked/untrustworthy" meme as if anyone susceptible to that hadn't heard it thousands of times already. It's main purpose is to stoke the Hillary Hate to get Cletus and Bobby Sue to the polls in November no matter how doomed Trump is.
