There are some reactionary elements of white America that is afraid of being treated like black America, because they're afraid of retaliation (real or imagined) for all decades and centuries of mistreatment of blacks and other minorities. This is one of the reasons why GOP and Trump supporters exist.

Famous for the "blue eyes - brown eyes" exercise.

If you haven't seen the documentary, The Eye of the Storm, I highly recommend it.
