This is rich! CNN running a show about Bush vs. Zarqawi. here's the description:

10:00 - 11:00 PM CDT.....on now

how much you want to bet they don't cover how dishonest they were about their dereliction of duty was, wrt to getting rid of him when they could have. here's the come-on from my tv schedule:

President George W. Bush and the Joint Special Operations Command prioritize stopping violent al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi from killing more innocent people.

and, to refresh your memories about that:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/us-allowed-zarqawi-to-escape/2006/04/30/1146335608444.html

The United States deliberately passed up repeated opportunities to kill the head of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Jordanian-born terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, before the March 2003 US-led invasion of that country.

Zarqawi is often described as a lieutenant of Osama bin Laden, whose supporters masterminded the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.

The claim, by former US spy Mike Scheuer, was made in an interview to be shown on ABC TV's Four Corners tonight. He told Four Corners that during 2002, the Bush Administration received detailed intelligence about Zarqawi's training camp in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Mr Scheuer claims that a July 2002 plan to destroy the camp lapsed because "it was more important not to give the Europeans the impression we were gunslingers".

and while we're at it, here's a great timeline that shows the genesis of the worst foreign policy/military mistake ever made in US history, including Vietnam (which got us Nixon, then BushII for a second, even more disastrous term than the first)

Lie by Lie: A Timeline of How We Got Into Iraq

Mushroom clouds, duct tape, Judy Miller, Curveball. Recalling how Americans were sold a bogus case for invasion.

description of what happened after the shock and awe struck....total dissolution of Iraqi society and infrastructure, basically

I dunno where it'll go from there, but so far NO MENTION of the failure to go after Z when he was in Kurdsville, or any mention of how we got into Iraq in the first place. from the POV of the show, it was like we just dropped into Iraq out of the blue; zero discussion of the run up.

However if the UK takes legal action, it might give other nations the nerve to try the same thing. I would LOVE it if those BFEE assholes could not travel out of the country!

It would serve them right!
