Be the press secretary for Hillary Clinton. He would be amazing! Of course that won't happen. But it should be someone like the President.

There is absolutely nothing the fright wing could say against him. He's a constitutional scholar and his credentials are impeccable.
It would be loads of fun to see the pinheads popping all over the Senate.

RW heads would explode.

(40,416 posts)Because he is not qualified to be POTUS again.
So says the constitution. And parsing the language as "elected" or not does not help the argument.
But he could serve on SCOTUS, as Taft did. But I don't think he would accept that. Nevertheless, it would be interesting if he accepted such a nomination.

(40,416 posts)But he is qualified for SCOTUS. Not sure if Hillary would nominate him, nor whether he would accept if she did.

(9,895 posts)I just cannot believe the GOP would survive such a circus.
They hate him with a passion that now rivals the hate for the Clintons (if not surpasses in some regards). The derangement of the idiot brigade in the right wing would be delicious, but the fact is Barack Obama would be an imminently qualified justice and a reliable voice of calm in a contentious court.

(13,417 posts)I think Clinton should appoint him as the official liaison dedicated to reducing police violence and improving relations between police forces and minority group Americans, particularly black Americans.
While not technically activism, it's certainly in the neighborhood and as a former President acting on behalf of the new President, he would be able to attain the respect of both police groups and average Americans. He might not be able to cure all of the problems; but he could lead some important discussions, help make peace and he could work with law enforcement agencies, the FBI, the Justice Departmentand the Clinton administration to enact new guidelines and procedures, perhaps even some new laws for Congress to pass.

(58,647 posts)I somehow think that job might actually limit what he can accomplish as a living ex-president. I suspect he could rival Jimmie as the "best ex-president" in history. I'm not sure exactly what he would do, but that is kind of the point. He could do anything he put his mind to, and I'd be willing to bet it would be good for the country and for society as a whole.
