Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell shares, deletes illustration of cop having throat slit

Warning - Graphic...

http://www.wsmv.com/story/32418049/cleveland-browns-running-back-isaiah-crowell-instagram-police-officer-throat-slit

The illustration, which has since been deleted from Crowell's Instagram account, was of a hooded figure holding a police officer's head back and slitting his throat.

After Cleveland 19 reached out for a comment from the Browns, Isaiah issued this apology and statement. He also apologized to Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams.

Crowell posted the illustration prior to the attack on the Dallas police last week. He has voiced his opinions recently on Instagram about Alton Sterling, the 37-year-old black man who was shot and killed by officers of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Cleveland police union threatens not to work Browns games

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/12/cleveland-police-union-threatens-not-to-work-browns-games/

Stephen Loomis, the president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, calls Crowell’s gesture a “store-bought apology.” In comments to TMZ, Loomis also described Crowell’s post as being as “offensive as putting a picture of historical African-American men being hung from a tree in the 60s.”

Loomis has a specific suggestion for what Crowell needs to do next.

“He needs to go to Dallas, help the families who lost their loved ones last week, write them a check, look them in the eyes and give a heartfelt apology,” Loomis told TMZ. If Crowell doesn’t, there will be consequences.

“I will pull Cleveland officers, sheriffs, state troopers out of First Energy Stadium this season if he doesn’t make it right,” Loomis said. “You’re a grown-ass man, and you claim you were too emotional to know it was wrong? Think we’ll accept your apology? Kiss my ass.”

Teams need good PR, and hopefully the browns will fire him.

He only had 10k guaranteed in his contract, so if they drop him now, they don't even have to pay him.

What advertisement?

It was an expression of anger . . . that's it.

For 50 years we've taken the high road . . . we've done the Ghandi thing . . . we're getting murdered in cold blood and not even the Justice Department will step in. The anger is warranted and a picture hurts no one.

Wrong.

So to solve the problem you want them to hate you more?

Because he is a public figure it gives people a reason to cry "violent backlash by PoC" so the right wingers have their projections reinforced.

Also it reinforces for PoC who may see it that violence is a reasonable approach. If you post enough stuff and some unstable person is so overwhelmed in duration and volume of the calls to violence, they could snap at subconscious level and bingo, another Dallas shooter is loosed.

such as pigs in a blanket fry like bacon etc. It just ramps up violence at all levels. I fear the violence is far from over as the coppers who see this further retreat into their hardened racism and some PoC's may tip over the edge too. It's a clusterfuck.

And added bonus, if they fire him, they don't even have to pay him for this year.

Crowell could have expressed himself in a different way...instead he chose the most offensive pic that he could post. The impression he gave by posting the pic is that he wants to kill cops..or killing cops is OK.

He could have made pro-BLM post or bitch about racist cops instead he chose to go over the top and has now given racist cops another reason to be racist... it's not helping your cause in any way.
