http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/palin-not-going-rnc-too-far-away?utm_content=buffer5fab6&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=bufferThat sound you hear is hearts breaking everywhere after Donald Trump told the Washington Examiner that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can't attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland because it's simply too far away.
Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee who's been a huge cheerleader for Trump, was a logical choice for a convention speaker. But Trump said that she could not swing the 11-hour flight from her home in Alaska.
"She was asked," Trump told the Washington Examiner in a Thursday interview. "It's a little bit difficult because of where she is. We love Sarah. Little bit difficult because of, you know, it's a long ways away."

That's ok. The Don can serve up enough word salad for the both of them.

(64,957 posts). . .that planes fly to Alaska. 6.5 hours in a private plane is not a burden.
She's not coming because other establishment Repubs don't want her there. They're embarrassed enough.

(43,157 posts)Set up expectations for Pence, then unveil Palin as the true VP candidate tomorrow. It would only be consistent with the bullshit circus act that is Trump's campaign. And to Trump's credit, it would dominate the news cycle, which is all that he cares about as a malignant narcissist.
I guess it's only a dream at this point. Although in 2008 wasn't there someone else who everyone was convinced McCain was going to name before he dropped Palin on us all?
On edit: I think it was Tim Pawlenty.

wonder why
it's, as usual, all at the feet of the media, who are treating Trump almost the same as they treated Reagan, the difference being that he's playing them much more effectively than did Reagan.
ever read On Bended Knee, the analysis of how/why the press caved in for Reagan, and how they protected him, essentially, during the 84 campaign, and almost completely ignored Iran Contra and the other scandals that plagued his venal administration, while he slept and watched tv through most of his 2d term.

(1,712 posts)Is it Donald's for intentionally pissing her off so she would stay away, or is it hers because she's pouting she won't be his VP pick?

(61,690 posts)Maybe she told him, "No, I have to wash my hair that night."
Other excuses:
She's hanging around Alaska in case Trip (or is it Track?) gets arrested and needs bail.
She's waiting for results of pregnancy tests for, well, anyone.
She heard there's a birthday party she'll want to attend, whether she is invited or not.
