I'm not interested in this trend but may reconsider....
Christian broadcaster Rick Wiles has made a name for himself among an already loony group of conspiracy theorists and fearmongers. This time he may have outdone himself.
Wiles has been featured in other posts for claiming LGBT people would kill anyone who doesnt support marriage equality, Targets bathroom policy will lead to a nuclear attack and Obama is coming into schools to rape your children, and praying for Ebola to hit the United States to solve Americas problems with atheism, homosexuality.
On Monday, the Truview host told viewers a harrowing story about a man standing outside his office building last week taking photos with his cell phone. Wiles called the cops on the poor guy, who was just playing Pokémon Go. Frustrated that no malicious intent was involved, Wiles turned to his grabbag of nonsense and pulled out cyber-demons.
These Pokémon creatures are like virtual, cyber-demons, he said according to Right Wing Watch. What this man, Friday, was trying to find was the Pokémon demon that had been placed inside the Trunews office.
The enemy, Satan, is targeting churches with virtual, digital, cyber-demons, Wiles said, noting that many of games virtual gyms have been placed in houses of worship by players. I believe this thing is a magnet for demonic powers.

(23,931 posts)there are signs up like "welcome Pokemon" and "Jesus Loves Pokemon", which is also bizarre, but in a very different way.

(49,212 posts)My kid wound up chatting for a bit with the homeless guys who were sleeping on the doorstep of the veterans' hall when he walked over to do whatever one does at a pokestop. They were really curious as to why kids kept coming around so he showed them the game and how it works.
He's fifteen and I was right there so he was fine. He'd never in a million years have talked to those guys otherwise. If we have to walk over there for future pokebusiness I'm going to try to remember to bring them lunch, I guess that's their usual spot.

(11,358 posts)... the developers had put cyber-demons in their churches.
Hmmm, maybe someone else will write that game. It sounds way cooler than the original.

(82,849 posts)Remember when Bowe Bergdahl's parents went to the White House? Bob Bergdahl used an Arabic phrase, and folks like Wiles lost their collective shit, asserting that Bob had "claimed" the White House for Islam or some such bullshit. This same nincompoopery is driving Wiles and his rantings.
We really need to quit spending so much on the military (chosen because it's far and away the largest spending item in the national budget) and divert some of that revenue stream to restoring public schools and teaching our young critical thinking skills.

(8,368 posts)my adult daughter and I were driving to go do grocery shopping to prepare for a visit from her friends, and evidently there are some kind of "stations" near churches where you can "do stuff that I don't understand." My church had one of these.
So far, I have not noted demonic powers, but I'll keep you posted
