Trump Says He Would Ask Congress to Declare War on Terrorism

Donald J. Trump said in an interview with Fox News that if he were president, he would go to Congress and ask for a “declaration of war” to combat global terrorism.

“I would, I would,” said Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee. “This is war. If you look at it, this is war. Coming from all different parts. And frankly it’s war, and we’re dealing with people without uniforms. In the old days, we would have uniforms. You would know who you’re fighting.”

Mr. Trump, who was calling in from California, was responding to a question from Bill O’Reilly.

He also said he would use NATO forces to wage war on terrorist groups.

“I’ve been saying it: We should use NATO for a purpose,” Mr. Trump said, reprising some of his criticisms of the alliance from the campaign trail.

Not to mention, NATO is with us in Afghanistan and they are among the 60 plus countries involved in fighting ISIS/ISIL/Daesh. Apparently Trump is unaware of this. I think he wanted to get rid of NATO just months ago.

To my knowledge, though many wanted it to be ended, it was not.

Not to mention, there is a coalition of over 60 countries fighting ISIS/ISIL/Daesh. You can't fight non state terrorism other than by intelligence and careful policing.

guns and hand grenades, but he had no accomplices. I think that is significant. The carnage could have been much worse (imagine someone firing into the crowd as he drove). He was a nut, but he could not find other nuts to join him.
