Pakistan's internet sensation Qandeel Baloch murdered by her brother in suspected 'honor killing'.

According to a report in Pakistani media outlet Dawn, social media sensation and model Quandeel Baloch was reportedly murdered by her brother. Her brother had allegedly been threatening her for putting up Facebook posts and videos, that some called ‘bold’.

The police added that Qandeel was in Multan for a week and forensic experts are examining the corpse. While earlier reports suggested that the she had been shot, the police are saying that she was strangled to death at her Multan residence, and her brother fled after committing the ghastly crime.

Baloch had reportedly been getting death threats and had sought security from the interior ministry but received no response. She was reportedly planning to settle down abroad and had told the Express Tribune: “I know I will not be provided security and I am not feeling secured here so have decided to move abroad with my parents after Eidul Fitr.”

Baloch, who has often been compared to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, was in the news when a man claimed on television that he’d been married to Baloch. Baloch admitted that she was married and had a son with him and that he used to beat her up. Baloch claimed that she was married when she was 17 and the marriage ended in a year. She said: “He never told my child I am his mother. It was a forced marriage. He tortured me day and night during the one year I was married to him. After a year, I ran away with my son and sought refuge in Darul Aman.”

Responding to this post:

"Stop being so Eurocentric

Imagine someone in the US killed Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian. Would anyone care about those bitches? Would you call their killer evil? Doubt it. This basically amounts to the same thing.

The real culprit in this whole mess is feminism. Feminism is the world's greatest evil, and the degrading effect it has had on women makes you want to weep. It's bad enough that the feminist cancer is allowed to thrive in the Western world, but to allow it to fester in Islamic nations, which are relatively pure and still protect the honor of their women, is a Crime Against Nature.

Maybe now these bimbos will learn that words have consequences, and stop spreading their filth on social media. You do not have the right to say what you want, or promote your deviant agenda."

Nice guy, schooled in America and working here and there, very comfortable with women as people, very good looking (tall, blond and blue-eyed), I believe moderate conservative to liberal in outlook, but he was quite matter of fact when he said that the men in his family would be required to kill a female relative who behaved in unacceptable ways. Their duty.

fundamentalist religion, but his family may well have been fundamentalist, or perhaps just very traditional. They seemed from his chat nice people, a very cohesive, modestly prosperous family who lived in the east in a mountain valley that sounded very beautiful.

I once asked him about belonging to two very different cultures, and he said something to the effect that he changed his attitudes and his clothes depending on where he was and that both had much that were right about them, and wrong. A quintessentially open-minded outlook.

The idea that he would have to kill a female member of the family who "behaves in unacceptable ways" ... indicates the "female member" is viewed as no more than property, or perhaps an appendage to be cut off.

Or he would have said that he would have to kill any member of the family who "behaves in unacceptable ways".

Pakistan is deeply inbred.

Not in the '"Ha, ha Kentucky" way. The majority of people there marry a cousin as per selected by the family. This produces an insularity where shame is deeply felt by family.

My wife is American Pakistani. Some in her family tried to get her to marry various cousins in Pakistan back in the day.

While it is religious nutjobs who run around shooting abortion doctors and threatening women exercising their right to choose, many of those doctors are also observant of a religious faith, as are their patients.

It's one of those things where you can't take out the broad brush.

I am of the view that the terrorist attacks did have a religious element. I think that Nice truck nutjob got ahold of one of those magazines that talks about how even if you are the biggest screw-up in all of Islam, if you just do One Massive Act of Martyrdom, all your sins will be forgiven and you'll get a golden ticket to paradise. This guy was a pork eating, wife beating, catting around asshole, but he just got fired, he had mental health issues, his life was a mess and he may have been ready to check out--he probably figured he could buy himself a ticket by slaughtering infidels and, at the same time, in effect doing suicide by cop--and that would solve his dilemma.

If you do it during Ramadan, you get upgraded to first class and comped a suite on Cloud 9....
