A Walt Disney World intern has been reinstated after she was briefly fired for tweeting a photo of a sign telling employees how to respond to questions about alligators in the theme parks waters.
Lane Graves, a two-year-old boy, was killed by an alligator at the park last month. It later emerged that his father, Matt Graves, said two alligators were involved in the attack, which occurred at the Seven Seas Lagoon.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Shannon Sullivan was fired this week after posting the photo of the sign on Twitter.
The sign told employees that if guests asked whether alligators lived in the parks waters, they should reply: Not that we know of, but if we see one, we will call Pest Management to have them removed.

Shannon Sullivan was disheartened by the sign she saw posted in the Walt Disney World break room.
If guests ask whether there are alligators in the water around the Magic Kingdom's Tom Sawyer Island, it told employees, the correct answer is: "Not that we know of, but if we see one, we will call Pest Management to have them removed.' Please do not say that we have seen them before."
"I was very offended by it and I was pretty vocal about it," said Sullivan, a Disney College Program participant working in Magic Kingdom restaurants.
She tweeted out a picture of the sign, which was typed on paper in several different colors.

(365 posts)I did the Disney college program. She has no future with this company now and she will be marked for what little time she has left in the program. (Usually 6 months). Disney is almost mob like in the way they run things. They train you that "there is Disney and there is the outside world". The outside world should not exist even with employees.

It's one of the best companies I ever worked for. Had it been located anywhere else but Orlando, I'd still be there.

(365 posts)wages there are unlivable. I knew managers who had to work a 2nd job just to make ends meet. I was an intern at high levels of management. They have ZERO respect for the peon workers.

I worked as a cast member and was promoted into management.
My experience was very different from yours. I saw respect at all levels of the company.

I presume that it was not meant for pubic viewing, so I think the eventual punishment fit the crime -- a suspension was enough.
