Sean Spicer of the RNC is manically attempting to deny any plagiarism happened by arguing that Michelle Obama used the word "dreams," which also appears in My Little Pony. No, I am not joking. He is shrieking at Wolf, picking out WORDS, noting wisely (hah hah) that words like "bond" or "dream" are used in the English language, while not reading the phrases next to each other (it is the exact similarity, in order and in syntax, of the phrases in context that is the issue and makes the plagiarism obvious).
Wolf should have asked Spicer to define plagiarism. What does it look like? How do we know when a source has been plagiarized? Perhaps they should consult the Chicago Manual of Style? Christie is on now stating that it must be nearly the entire document or it doesn't count (snort). That is not of course the definition or how it is treated.
Of course one could ALWAYS deny charges of plagiarism by saying that one is just using words that other English speakers use -- so therefore no plagiarism can happen ever. Spicer is hysterical and unhinged and his faux "outrage" at how the evil media etc is treating poor, helpless Melania for delivering a plagiarized speech at the republican national convention is a lame attempt to shut down the discussion. He is desperately trying to hit the new RNC talking points -- "these words exist in English!!!"
Christie adds that 93% of the speech is "hers." As I posted elsewhere, I can just imagine if Bill or Hillary delivered a speech with passages identical to any repub candidate the repubs would never, ever shut up about it.

Anything but just admitting to a basically harmless error or even, hell, pointing at the unpaid interns who Rickrolled their candidate's wife.
Never gonna give (denial) up!
