What Is This Obama/Deval Patrick Meme Shit About?

Seems that the RWNJs are managing to go after something now through all of their spittle: that Obama apparently "plagiarized" a speech during the 2008 campaign with words that were originally spoken by Deval Patrick about a year earlier.

I have never heard of this. Is it true and how should I/we respond? I know these idiots are desperate and that Obama is not running, etc., but I'm hoping to pound these clowns with facts - we all know how much they squeal in pain when that happens.

When asked about it, he said sure, he and Deval Patrick crib off each other. Deval Patrick said the same thing. He did not try and deny it.

Something like that. He was asked about it, he said yes it was from a Patrick speech, it was dropped.

Obama did use some of the same lines, including the "words" lines. Patrick was flattered and gracious about it. Obama never denied using any of Patrick's speech. He said it needed repeating.

Trump isn't. Obama took a word for word paragraph from a Patrick speech and said yeah, they were friends and he used the paragraph and should have acknowledged it came from Patrick. He didn't blame little ponies.

have much the same political philosophy and they are friends. To my knowledge, Obama nor the other Dems never disparaged Patrick as the GOP and Trump have Michelle.

Even Trump himself.
Just shows how media marketing can turn an unidentifyable lump of something, into a US President.

I just recall at the time that I 'excused' him for his plagairism since he obviously had some serious medical problems.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/bidens-medical-history-not-scrutinized/

Soon after ending his first presidential bid that year, Biden, who had been suffering from what he thought were headaches and a pinched nerve, collapsed in a hotel room shortly after giving a speech on foreign policy.

In his book "Promises to Keep," Biden says that he was unconscious for over four hours before he woke up in a hospital in Wilmington, Del. The senator was told that an artery was leaking blood into his brain and he was given his last rites by a priest. He was transferred to Walter Reed Medical Center where it was discovered that he had a second aneurysm on the other side of his brain.

Biden immediately underwent a four-and-a-half-hour operation to remove the leaking aneurysm. He had a second surgery in May to repair the other aneurysm and fully recovered after taking a seven-month leave from his seat as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

David Axelrod represented both Patrick and Obama and it was Patrick who fed Obama these lines http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/blog/2016/07/19/melania-trump-obama-patrick/

In 2008, Slate’s Jack Shafer noted how well Obama fared against Clinton’s accusations. A lot of that had to do with the Obama-Patrick relationship and their similarities. He wrote:

Patrick and Obama, who rely on the same campaign wizard, David Axelrod, have shared enough campaign rhetoric to be declared separated at birth, as this Boston Globe article from 10 months ago shows. Here’s additional evidence of Patrick-Obama sharing from Jake Tapper’s blog. As someone who has endorsed and advised Obama, Patrick occupies the position of a campaign volunteer or even a collaborator. Given the conventions of campaign oratory, I’d have a hard time diagnosing plagiarism on Obama’s part—as opposed to poor form—unless Patrick alleged that his friend fleeced his words, which he hasn’t and won’t.

in order to distract from blatant plagiarism. The media is starting to back down when they shouldn't be. I have also noticed they are allowing the "Hillary is behind this" meme to go unchecked.

They were helpful.

Believe me, I get the whole BUTBUTBUT OBAMA DID IT FIRST! garbage, as that in itself is an obvious sign that they have nothing. When they have nothing, try to smear the black guy. It's despicable but predictable.

I just had never heard about this at all. I assumed that if it had been actual plagiarism, we never would have heard the end of it.

It's usually with permission in advance but can be an understanding between friends. The Gettysburg Address is often quoted. Abe Lincoln is dead, the speech is well known and public domain. Plagerized is outright theft and claiming the words are your own. Melania said the words were hers. She claimed ownership. Regarding My Little Pony, Rick Astley or Michele Obama , those words were not hers to claim.
