(16,038 posts)The tide is turning with KCMO turning onto a monumental shithole and KCKS being gentrified....Lenexa, Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee Mission, and even KCK are the most desirable properties in the metro area...

(21,691 posts)All of those are in Johnson County, one of the richest counties in the nation. KCK is in Wyandotte County, one of the poorest counties in the state. Other than the Rosedale BBQ and KU MedCenter, there's really nothing of value in KCK. Maybe the Rosedale Arch.
My family has been in KCMO since it was called Westport. It was shithole when I grew up in it and that's one reason I moved as far away as I could without actually falling off the continent, but it's still a damn sight better than KCK and I'm not embarrassed to say I'm from Missouri ... unlike my Kansan husband, who has to explain he believes the theory of evolution.

(546 posts)Yes, Kauffman Stadium is in Missouri, however...
"Kansas City (often abbreviated as "KCK" to differentiate it from its adjacent namesake, Kansas City, Missouri is the third-largest city in the state of Kansas, the county seat of Wyandotte County, and the third-largest city of the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is part of a consolidated city-county government known as the "Unified Government". Wyandotte County also includes the independent cities of Bonner Springs and Edwardsville. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 145,786 residents. It is situated at Kaw Point, which is the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers."-- Wikipedia

Bad Thoughts
(2,514 posts)KCM and KCK make up a cross-boundary region, more or less organically connected. I don't know what the delegate's intention was, but if he was taking ownership of the Royals as someone from KCK, no foul.
