Have the Republicans crossed the line with their charges that Hillary "should be in jail" ??

Is it common in political discourse to accuse your opponent of being a criminal, when there are no outstanding criminal charges? Is this a recent phenomenon?

Is this dangerous for a society? Is it slanderous? Is it criminal, in itself, to make such accusations without proof?

Of course, politics "ain't beanbag", but it's really not that simple, is it?

The cons are doing what they have ALWAYS done when it concerns the Clinton's - overreach. For 30 years, they've been doing this - LYING about the Clinton's. And that's why they always lose to Bill and Hillary. Bill is the most popular politician in the country (although Pres Obama is giving him a run for his money these days - the cons would KILL for those approval ratings) and Hillary is going to be the Democratic nominee. Screaming about jail just makes them look like the whiny little turds they are.

I think most DUers think Bush and Cheney are war criminals so I don't think it isn't fair game. It's hardly been effective though. Bill rode this type of talk to higher and higher poll numbers. The more they called him a criminal the more people liked him.

Have another bridge he needs to be shutting down somewhere, or 4 bags of Oreo's to be scarfing down one after another?

He's made a complete fool of himself--running after tRump like his little Nurse Maid fetching hamburgers, fries etc. for him only to have tRump completely humiliate him then kick him in his extra-wide fanny (tRump almost getting his foot stuck in there I bet), and his "career" is over. Even if tRump had chosen Bully Boy as his VP, he couldn't have delivered New Jersey--that's how horrible, petty, ineffective and corrupt of a Governor he's been, and most folks in New Jersey just want him to go away forever.

What about all of the cherry-picking of unvetted intelligence that he orchestrated just to make the case to invade Iraq so that he and his buddies at Haliburton can make tons of money? And it was all lies! And the world is still paying for it in terms of lost and messed up lives, the creation of ISIS and other terrorist groups, and trillions of dollars in taxpayer money.

But you never hear a peep from these same RW zombies about that, do you?

Like zombies, they just repeat the line that Hillary should be in jail because it's all they hear in their bubbles where all they listen to is I-Heart Radio hate mongering talk shows and Faux Snooze.

A lesson from LBJ in how to smash an opponent.

Legend has it that LBJ, in one of his early congressional campaigns, told one of his aides to spread the story that Johnson's opponent fucked pigs. The aide responded "Christ, Lyndon, we can't call the guy a pigfucker. It isn't true." To which LBJ supposedly replied "Of course it ain't true, but I want to make the son-of-a-bitch deny it."

Wed Jul 20, 2016, 08:03 AM
Jul 2016

It's very very common to invoke chauvinistic language in political discourse on-line, in bars, and playing drinking games watching opponents' televised performances. Within professional politics this sort of thing is left to the rallying speeches of surrogates, and candidates and their campaign staff never get dirty.

In a year when there is very little concern for guiding principles, or even arguing the value of tacking to approximate compass headings, there is way too much attention on defaming personalities, This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Consider for a moment that Trump, as we know him is a traitorous friend of Putin, much worse than Hitler, and a business partner of Beelzebub.

Remember when you couldn't follow campaign news without being smacked in the ears with "gravitas" as the buzzword? Well, the name-calling ad hominen slingers have pretty much given up on gravitas in preference of gravity.

And, currently, gravity is best measured by the weight of mud and the 'strength' of a campaign is judged on it's 'throw-weight' capacity.
