Purging Government Employees A Dangerous Precedent.

As if it is not already bad enough with contracting out so many government jobs purging employees based on party affiliation is a dangerous precedent and a dire warning about who the Trump and the GOP really is. Civil service was set up that government employees under its protection would perform services to the public fairly. It assured that party loyalty would NOT be a factor in the performance of duties.

The GOP supports massive changes in the government employee structure based on whoever is in power. Government employment would go back to a time when entire government service structures would change based on whoever won the election. That would mean that all employees who were registered voters would face dismissal if they were not loyal to the party in power.

In recent years civil servants were salted into the system to stall or thwart efforts of a new administration to govern. Bush was aggressive in "salting" workers during his year.s. Every administration wants workers to support its policies. Civil servants are supposed to be neutral and follow the laws of the land and administer services impartially.

Destroying the civil service system in such a way means the end of democracy and the rise of loyalty oaths.

He actually was against a merit based system and perversely believed that a patronage system was more "democratic".

That led to a lot more corruption and unqualified boobs in government.
