Trump adviser endorses violence against Hillary Clinton

07/20/16 12:45 PM
By Steve Benen

After Donald Trump called for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,” New Hampshire state Rep. Al Baldasaro (R), the co-chair of Trump’s state veterans coalition, did his best to defend the candidate’s proposal. “What he’s saying is no different than the situation during World War II,” Baldasaro said, “when we put the Japanese in camps.”

The New Hampshire Republican intended this as a defense.

And while those comments certainly made a stir, the Republican activist’s latest tirade are probably even more noteworthy. The Boston Globe reports today:

A New Hampshire state representative who advises Donald Trump on veterans’ issues called Tuesday for Hillary Clinton to be “put in the firing line and shot for treason” for her handling of the Benghazi terror attack.

Appearing on WRKO radio from the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, state Representative Al Baldasaro, a Londonderry Republican, called the presumptive Democratic nominee “a piece of garbage.”

Actually, the media treating Trump like an actual candidate, legitimizing him, has given them all a platform. No matter how badly Hillary beats him, these people will have been empowered to bring their particular brand of violent bigotry out into the open...and act on it.

The media has really hurt the country in doing this.

Yes, the GOPee allowed it, but the shame is the media starting out treating him as a serious candidate. Had they treated him like the joke he is, he'd have faded a long time ago.

that is the RNC this year.

It is not at all surprising that he went this far on Right-Wing radio from the convention - this year's gathering is encouraging the most outrageous and disgusting rhetoric that I think I've ever seen coming from the Right.

At this point, part of me is a bit frightened at what the reaction will be once Hillary wins if this is the kind of shit that's bubbling up from the bowels of their party and we're still months away from election day.

We went from the "all in good fun" slavering of the Republican mob incited by Gov. Christie to jail political opponents to out-and-out death threats. Who could have possibly foreseen that happening? I hope Gov. Christie can get out in front of a camera and explain to us all just what a rib-tickling joke Mr. Baldasaro's comments really are, and how we all need to lighten up just because everyone's having such a good time.
