The original "Ghostbusters" star came to co-star Leslie Jones' defense on Tuesday night by comparing her racist and sexist Twitter haters to probable Donald Trump supporters.

"These people, they're insignificant gnats, they're losers, they have no lives of their own, they can probably barely pay for the Wi-Fi they're using," Akroyd told Entertainment Tonight Canada of Jones' haters.

"I would say you're looking at obese white men between 50 and 60 who are active Klan members or member of the Aryan Nation and there are millions of them," he continued.

The actor — who like Jones found his start on "Saturday Night Live" — brought politics into the mix by saying many of the trolls are likely voting for Trump.

"There's a lot of white racist hatred out there that's going to channel into a support for the republican ticket, maybe in the false belief that these people share their views," he continued.

2. Interesting, Aykroyd himself has been quite anti-government/right-leaning.

He even used the original Ghostbusters movie to send an anti-government message. I'm sure that's why he used the phrasing he did "maybe in the false belief that these people share their views." Sorry Dan but today's Republican party DOES share their views, and in fact has been promoting them for some time.

50 to 60 year olds? More like 19 to 20 year olds. The older misogynists don't seem like the type to Tweet death threats and pictures of male fluids.
