Remember this? 1996 United States campaign finance controversy (Wikipedia) I voted, again, for Bill.

Who else remembers this? I'll bet quite a few of you don't. Let's talk about it today as tensions rise in the South China Sea region as well as here in the USA.

Looking back, I'd say that they were lobbying the US to push the WTO to allow admittance to China. All they had to do was ride it out until Bush II was elected. After the world felt sorry for the US after the 9/11 attacks, the Bush administration asked the WTO to allow China, and they did. The rest is history.
