No to Tim Kaine

Last edited Thu Jul 21, 2016, 06:30 PM - Edit history (1)

I want to like Tim. I used to live in Virginia and campaigned for Tim. I am supporting Clinton and hope she picks the best VP candidate she can.

Tim Kaine isn't that best choice.

Despite Clinton being opposed to the TPP, Kaine continues to support it.

Now, again, in opposition to Clinton's public policy positions on banking reform and regulation, Kaine has come out in in support of bank deregulation:

Kaine signed two letters on Monday urging federal regulators to go easy on banks ― one to help big banks dodge risk management rules, and another to help small banks avoid consumer protection standards.

This should not be acceptable and choosing someone who publicly opposes Clinton's stated policy positions should not be acceptable.

Not to mention that choosing such a person would be seen as an overt slight to former Sanders supporters as well as supporters of Elizabeth Warren.

In my opinion Tim Kaine has disqualified himself.

1. "Stated" policy positions are not always "actual" policy positions.

We'll find out soon enough, if she picks someone who "appears" opposed.

5. merrily—Absolutely! Tim Kaine was DNC chair when Ds lost U.S. House to tune of 60+ seats in 2010.

It's a big decision for Hillary, I would think? Does she pull back to the middle right or does she try to capture the votes on the left with a more progressive VP nominee?

Makes me think Hillary might choose her.Hard to imagine she would choose Kaine in view of this?
