He's got a legacy of Minnesota born Democratic VPs behind him. Not really important, one way or the other... But I like the fact that he's a native born Midwesterner.
The Republican ticket is crazy and warped by ideology that's utterly unpredictable. We're bringing the American voter a ticket that says, "We're here to roll up our sleeves and take care of business, not to put on a spectacle."
What I really want is for Democrats to retake the House, but the Senate especially. Which is why I'm glad that Sen Warren wasn't chosen, she needs to keep her own voice. We just need to give that voice a committee chairmanship to back it up.
We're going to do this.

(1,364 posts)Tim Kaine may have been born in Minnesota but he grew up in Overland Park, KS- not Minnesota nor KC, MO. He lived about 5 houses up the street from my family. He was younger than me by about 5 years but was in my sister's class in school-thru high school. So Kansas was part of his experience.

(31,374 posts)which includes Overland Park, KS and Kansas City, MO. The Jesuit high school he went to is in Kansas City (MO)
His undergraduate degree is from the University of Missouri.
It should make for some interesting campaigning when Clinton/Kaine are in Missouri.

(16,982 posts)...pointed it out on MSNBC last night, with the observation that in Minnesota parents bounce their babies on their knees and tell them they can grow up to be vice president!
