I have a friend, a Democrat, former nun(!), social studies teacher in her 70's. She told me recently that after Watergate you couldn't find a single person who would admit to having voted for Nixon.

Fast forward 20 years, and no one will admit to being part of the witch hunt, least of all the pure and the perfect. But in their hearts they'll feel the shame of being on the wrong side of history.
