Now that would be illegal, and he/she would be arrested, but the cat would be out of the bag. I could see it happening, especially if the Russians keep up their leaks.
[and I could see Obama pardoning such a person on his way out in January, anyway]

(65,616 posts)The fact that he says the IRS won't let him is a huge red flag in my book.

(2,657 posts)to divert attention from the previous shit he spewed. Continuously, forever, whether con man in business or as President of the United States. Sooner or later everything will collapse. We HAVE to make sure he is not in the White House when that day comes.
Those tax returns must be SO DAMAGING that he will risk it all to not disclose them. This needs to continue to be a major and recurring campaign theme.
The IRS doesn't give two shits if he releases his tax return. In addition, there is no legitimate reason for him not to release them -- his adversary in the audit is the IRS, who presumably already has copies of his tax return.

(6,324 posts)If they are full of damming stuff, then it would be epic.
If they are not full of damming stuff or even just a little damming stuff it would probably backfire as Trump would spin it as the "crooked IRS working for crooked Hillary" against him and paint it as corruption and the IRS being used politically. That narrative is already out there despite no actual wrongdoing being found by the IRS in the whole teabagger mess, but it would play into that. And since people already hate the IRS this would probably backfire.
