We're being played

There was a truth in the convention hall that was magnified to such a degree that it simply became fiction.

"The angry Sanders supporters who were booing and disrupting"

There were probably a few. Let's stipulate there were.

Maybe a few hundred? Maybe less? Scattered here and there, but also a few small pockets,

So if you're a CabalNooz outlet, you want the horserace, the drama, the realityshow of it all, what do you do? Maybe you send a floor reporter, or even just a sound guy, over to where the few booers are booing. You get the sound live, and you mix it in with the feed from the speaker. (The feed from the speaker being distributed by the event, not the CabalNooz outlet). Done right, this gives the appearance of an army of angry conventioneers.

Yes, there was some real booing on day one, mainly during the rules thing and around DWS. It happened and it was real. But it was pretty much over after that.

All you needed to do was get off your favorite CabalNooz outlet and watch CSPAN (or, I am told, PBS) to get a real look at what was going on. The booing disappeared. If you listened REAL closely for it, there was a lonely boo here and a quick, short boo there.

But that didn't fit the CabalNooz script. So they dispatched their young floor reporters to mine the crowd for "angrypeople". They also went outside where they found a few more angrypeople. All these angrypeople
interviews got cut into the broadcast, usually during the best part of a speaker's speech. When they knew YOU were paying attention.

On CSPAN there was none of this. Their coverage was their usual boring fare, which is to say unfiltered and unmoderated. Stationary cameras. What you see is what there was. Leaving you free to decide what it was you saw and heard with your own eyes and ears. No RachelShawnWolfBrianChuckJohn to tell you what they wanted you to see.

CabalNooz has created a storyline for this election. They're not reporting it. They're trying to cause a favored outcome.

You think Russian hackers are bad? You think some Australian Rapist in hiding is bad?

How about the home town media? THEY are a BIG part of the problem. And this year, more than any time ever, they are on full display.

CabalNooz is hurting democracy. STOPPING democracy. Period. Ratfuckers is what they are.

Neither TeamHillary nor TeamBernie were helped by any of this. Surely TeamDemocrat was hurt.

They are playing us.

No way they would have been allowed to run around and stir shit like that at the RNC.

The media also completely ignored the 9/11 victims and first responders last night.

And today the media has latched on to their next hot Clinton story, making a huge stink out of McAuliffe "implying" that Clinton will support TPP after all. When they're not discussing that, they're dangling the next potentially "disastrous" email release over our heads. I'm so damned sick of the media and their manufactured outrage.

They're determined to make Trump our next president. If that happens (god forbid), the media should be held at least partly accountable. Their greed for money and ratings knows no bounds.

You are 100% correct. I and others on this board have been saying it for months. No matter how close this race really is, the news media absolutely NEED this to be a close race. That is the only way they get eyeballs in order to sell ads for revenue.

The symptoms have been there since Trump declared his entrance into the race. The media dutifully covered every crazy and rabid thing he said because that sort of controversy brings in viewers and sells ads. They reported on every crazy things he says and then hand-wringing with "Oh, no, how could this have ever happened?" Guess what? You built this! Your millions and millions of dollars of free campaign advertising in the form of news cycles and interviews, including letting him phone in constantly is part of his strategy.

I really do think that the drawn-out primary on the Democratic side helped the Democrats in the long run, because so long as the media could point to Hillary and Bernie still in conflict, they would report it. As soon as there was no question who would be the nominee for the DNC, the media would declare that race "boring" and go back to giving free news cycles to the latest crazy thing Trump said.

are military contractors, Wall Street and the like, want to pick our candidates by using their media influence. Trump would not be the nominee without all of the airtime he has received. Bernie said from the beginning that like the Wall Street banks and the 6 major media companies need to be busted up.

The media conglomerates push their propaganda to brainwash the electorate into believing what TPTB want them to believe. They are one of the biggest threats to our Democracy!

I cannot tolerate ANY cable news. I have watched C span because even MSNBC is unwatchable. They seem to WANT Trump. He would be a ratings bonanza, up to and including the inevitable impeachment, and media wants that. Les Moonves made it very clear; Trump is terrible for the country but great for ratings. What a horrible, horrible system we have that would knowingly try to put an ignorant demagogue in power for corporate gain.

You could definitely tell who was watching CSPAN vs. who was watching MSNBC.

Outrage over boos I hardly heard, drama over the use of 'girl' (I had to hide the meta thread in GD regarding this because... DRAMA!), etc.

Yes, there are legitimate discussions to be had regarding some of the issues surrounding the convention, but not by putting it under an electron microscope and turning it up to eleven.

interviewing Sen. Al Franken after the first night and one asked him what he would like to see, he replied and I will have to paraphrase at this point, but he asked them to do their jobs, admonished them for allowing lies to stand unchallenged, and to do a better job at being responsible journalists. Even Mrs. Greenspan said, "Point taken." Yeah, I won't hold my breath, but at least someone said it.

Their Job No. 1 is to boost their ratings.

It's a highly competitive business they're in, so if it means hyping every little tiff into a huge game-changing conflict of Good vs. Evil, then that's what they will do.

But the good news is we have alternatives: PBS and C-SPAN.

When Trump wins, we'll have the MSM to thank. Trump is holding a press conference in Florida right now and CNN and MSNBC are all over it. Of course, his vomitous rhetoric will be digested and regurgitated by his rabid followers and the rest of us are left shaking our heads in disbelief.

(it's amazing what a billion dollars or so of free air time can do for a campaign) and now it appears they want Trump to win the general election. What could be better for ratings? With Trump as POTUS they get 4 years of high ratings covering the biggest clusterfuck/disaster in the world.

Sarah Silverman even Bernie himself. I dint watch CSPAN. Not saying it wasn't exaggerated, but appears to have been real. That saiid I don't mind the horse race angle played out by the media. I want Donald Trump to run because he will lose. His numbers will get worse and worse over time. My biggest fear is that he will somehow be forced out of the race and that we will run against a more mainstream opponent.

would realize that the cable news networks are hopeless. Complaining about them won't change them. The only vote you have is in your remote control. Personally I have never been much of a television watcher and may go for months and not see it. When they lose their ratings they lose money. I used to watch C-span some, but no longer have cable. I've been saying for a long time that television is the most powerful social control ever.

There is no actual journalism or reporting anymore, save a small number of outlets.

When a few corporations control all of our major media, what can we expect?
