I never understood this history thing with Hillary.

I believe Obama's election was more profound. Never has white-euro-centric country elected a person of African descent until we did. On the other hand many women have been heads of state in said countries.

I always knew I'd see a woman president in my lifetime, but never one of color.

The last 8 years has shown that parts of America were not ready for a Black President. (And, given Trump's nomination, apparently still aren't ready.)

The next 8 years will reveal the answer to your question.

are 89 and 90 years old. neither worked outside the home much.

I think they're so used to men being in charge of everything for their whole lives, that a woman in charge makes them anxious.
