I'm not going to lay the booing on anyone's doorstep, but . . . .

. . . . booing the military people who just spoke sickens me.

Fuck the haters.

They may think they're making a point, but this is neither the time nor the place. To be sure, I, too, am anti war. I, too, want to see military funding reduced. I, too, want to see our presence in foreign countries reduced. But we live in the real world and right now, the real world is keeping us out there. There is blame for that enough to go around. But booing the Democrats can only help us get a Republican. There are times and places for everything.

I am GLAD the hall chanted USA USA to drown out the ungrateful, childish asses.

Fuck 'em.

I felt bad for them. Bad optics for the DNC as well.

"USA, USA". I started crying.... again..... It feels like WE are taking our country back instead of capitulating, fumbling and punting.

Not booing.

I think we can all agree with the sentiment of ending wars but it's disrespectful to chant over a speech.

as the chickenhawks who cheer them and send them off to die.

We honor their service, but we (like they--believe me, I've worn a uni, I know) would just as soon they not HAVE to use their training. Notwithstanding the stupid Glory Glory War Movies, most people would as soon NOT go in harm's way and most people don't want to send them.

The military are simply INSTRUMENTS of policy. They serve as an indicator of strength and resolve, and they are also a robust deterrent.

Booing them is a stupid as booing a secretary or a file clerk, or the guy who buffs the floors at the Pentagon. The enlisted people obey the orders of the President of the US and the orders of the officers appointed over them, and the officers swear to support, protect and defend THE CONSTITUTION of the USA. CIVILIAN control of the military is the law of the frigging land, here.

And that's who and what those nitwits were booing--people who in their military service, took orders from civilian leaders.

Just shameful. We ought to take up a collection and send them to a remedial civics class. They don't seem to understand the basics.

My husband joined the navy in college to help pay his way. Even as an officer we were not making a lot of money. He's proud he served. Wasn't a cake job at all. And I felt it was about 40% Dem at that time ((late 90's).
