Six more Zika cases in FL - all confirmed to be from local skeeters, and Congress does nothing

Congress knew it would happen, but they had to leave town before they actually had to pass a bill to help fight Zika. They didn't want to be accused of actually doing something. This thing is going to get much, much worse.

or the VIPs start calling public attention to the blase indifference of those who control the purse in congress. Look how long it took for the residents of Flint to see any action for their misery. What's unconscionable is that the mosquitoes that spread the disease are going unchecked and will make it even harder and still more expensive to control their breeding.

They'll wait until it's epidemic throughout Florida and the Gulf Coast, then pry lose a pittance for NIH grants and maybe a few more dollars for mosquito abatement, all too little and too late. They will, of course, continue to fulminate against abortion and their counterparts in the individual states will try to pass more stupid laws that make it hard for clinics to stay in business while prissy pharmacists are allowed to refuse to sell birth control.

Fortunately, the US isn't the only country being affected and a vaccine is in the works. However, had we been involved from the start, that vaccine might already be undergoing trials in hard hit areas of Brazil.

I'm so sick of Republicans who want the world to burn down rather than spend a few bucks on health care because some of the beneficiaries are not going to be WASP men.
