Miriam Cepeda, a Hispanic college student recently profiled on CNN as an unexpected advocate for Donald Trump, is also the daughter of a Mexican cartel conspirator, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Her father, Jose Luis Cepeda Cortes, was found guilty in May of interstate stalking and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire for his participation in the 2013 slaying of a cartel attorney in Southlake.

The Gulf cartel attorney, who was also a U.S. informant, was gunned down during a shopping trip with his wife at Southlake Town Square. Cepeda Cortes, a South Texas resident who speaks English, joined a cousin in finding the lawyer and stalking him, according to court testimony.
