No Russian ties - BULLSHIT - Try 50 mil. real estate deal

Basically, Trump buys 41 mil. Florida home, tries to flip it for 125 mil and finally finds a buyer - A Russian billionaire thug.

"...His initial asking price, less than two years after buying it, was $125 million. By the time Trump listed the property, in early 2006, the real estate market was already cooling off. The property sat on the market for about two years as a frustrated Trump churned through real estate brokers and slashed his price 20 percent. It wasn’t at all clear who might pay Trump three times his buying price for a neoclassical palace amid a looming recession.

In the summer of 2008, Trump found a solution to his problem in the form of one of the world’s hundred richest men: a 41-year-old Russian billionaire named Dmitry Rybolovlev. Then with a net worth that Forbes estimated at $13 billion, Rybolovlev had made his fortune in the wild west of 1990s post-Soviet Russia"

He said he had no investments in Russia.
Not that he wasn't taking Russian money or
partnered in other ways with mobsters and
unsavory oligarchs.

His current Russian connection is that he bought property in Florida and sold it to a Russian oligarch. He explored deals in Russia but that one land deal (in the US) is the only deal he's actually gotten done in (?) Russia.

Heck. I've had more recent connections to Russia, ordering stuff from Petersburg and Moscow. Translated and interpreted for a Russian swindler connected with the Russian mafia in the '90s. It paid well. Been to Petersburg, and had friends from Irkutsk. Even from the Donbas (as well as Odessa and even Kyiv).

Then again, I have (by that token) Iranian, Chinese, Lebanese and Egyptian connections (not to mention Czech and Polish connections) since I'd traded directly with businesses in those countries. (But the dictionaries, grammars, and readers I got were reasonably priced, even after shipping by surface mail.)

You didn't hit pay dirt. You hit dust on the door lintel.

Inside Trump’s financial ties to Russia and his unusual flattery of Vladimir Putin

Donald Trump was in his element, mingling with beauty pageant contestants and business tycoons as he brought his Miss Universe pageant to Russia for a much-anticipated Moscow debut. Nonetheless, Trump was especially eager for the presence of another honored guest: Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin canceled at the last minute, but he sent a decorative lacquered box, a traditional Russian gift, and a warm note, according to Aras Agalarov, a Moscow billionaire who served as a liaison between Trump and the Russian leader.

Still, the weekend was fruitful for Trump. He received a portion of the $14 million paid by Agalarov and other investors to bring the pageant to Moscow. Agalarov said he and Trump signed an agreement to build a Trump Tower in the heart of Moscow — at least Trump’s fifth attempt at such a venture. And Trump seemed energized by his interactions with Russia’s financial elite at the pageant and a glitzy after-party in a Moscow nightclub.

“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump’s son, Donald Jr., told a real estate conference in 2008, according to an account posted on the website of eTurboNews, a trade publication. “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”
