"He wasn't my choice, but he's better than Hillary"

"I simply cannot allow Hillary to become president"

"Look, he isn't my first choice or my last choice. But I have to back him because the alternative is Hillary"

And so forth. A great many GoPeers are saying such things these days. No matter what you ask them about the shitspew coming from Trump, they stop short of defending it and go into their dance about why the "just have to vote for Trump."

Tell ya what, folks. You back him, no matter how you dissemble and wiggle and squirm, and you OWN him. You show yourself to be bigots, xenophobes, racists, misogynists, and bullies.

I've heard people argue that you can't assume that a Trump voter is racist, sexist, etc. BULLSHIT. They have a choice not to vote for the racist, but they're going to anyway?!

If someone can vote for this POS, after all the vile, disgusting, bigoted things he's said and done, what am I supposed to call them? They're voting for someone who wants to BAN Muslims, someone who calls black people LAZY, and Mexicans RAPISTS and criminals. I can think of a lot of names for Trump voters, but none of them are good.

political discourse . . . Disagreements on issues that encompass all . . . Or you stand with the bullied, name callers, racists. This is not the election for trying to correct a broken system. We need to legitimately vote the GOP out all up and down the ticket in every city, every state of the Union. We need to capitalize on this opportunity to vote in candidates that will help support the gains we have made and move the country forward on others!

All they care about is themselves. They don't care if we end up starting WW3, as long as Hillary doesn't get elected. I've pretty much cut off contact with every friend I know who is voting for the Donald. Their ideas go against the very institution of democracy.

it what area precisely is he better than Hillary?

The 'better than Hillary' is an emotional response rather than a rationale response.
There are studies which show that people can be walked back from an emotional response if they have to answer questions.
It actually doesn't even matter what the answer they give are...the fact that they begin to think about it, can break through the blind emotional response.
Maybe not instantly..but over time.

I haven't heard any reason not to trust her. The last thing I heard was "she gets away with stuff", but geez, so does pretty much every one in government. And gowdy got away with spending $7-9million on nothing but harassment.

I suspect that everything they dislike about her directly related to a RW smear.

here but that just gives us a place to vent. Any ideas what we can do to move them? I am becoming really afraid. My neighbor is a smart guy - well educated - has a nice life having had a good job over the years, no layoffs, a lovely home, a well funded retirement and healthy children who are college educated and off on their own.

He told me last night she was going to take his guns. I actually showed him the part of her speech where she said "I don't want to take your guns away". He dismissed it with the statement "well after she is in office she will change her mind and take the guns".

How in the name of all that is holy do you persuade someone like this? It is like they are saying "this is the truth" and then you say "no it isn't and here are the facts that prove it is not" and they say - "well ok but it will be the truth later" Christ on a Cracker - how do you get someone like this to face the facts about Trump?

My frustration level is off the charts. I swear God could appear with a video of him killing and eating a baby and they would shrug it off.

There are obviously a lot of GOP/right leaning folks who aren't supporting Trump if Johnson is getting that chunk of the vote.

That also means we should be worried that if Johnson weren't in the race there's the very numerically real possibility that our candidate would be getting roundly trounced by an idiot, orange hued, racist, failed businessman and reality tv start with zero government experience.

get to registering likely Democratic voters people. This is an opportunity that we cannot afford to sit by idly while it floats by. Trump is the least likely and able candidate ever to secure a major nomination. He will not win. If you want to punish the Republicans for nominating him, and if you want to do good things for your country, getting out the vote is your job. Get the vote out for the Democratic ticket up and down the ballot.

This is the time. This is the time. There will never be another opportunity and challenge like this. Now.
