(260 posts)There was an AP article somewhere that I can't find that talked about it. Apparently labeling something 'Made In America' doesn't necessarily mean it was made in America - you are allowed to use materials sourced from other places as long as the percentage stays below a certain threshold if the particular material isn't available in the US.
Some testing was done on the fabric in the factory where the hats are manufactured and it passed the 'test', but the bookkeeping was shoddy.

(1,907 posts)dipshit donnie whined about it costing to much, being hard to find someone to make the hats, and can't remember if there was anything else he whined about them. Pretty sure there was. Maybe it needs to be asked again if they are really made here. He will probably come up with some other whiny answer.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027654496It was China, at least at that time.
And by the way, before he switched hat production to a company called 'cali-fame', (which uses Hispanic labor and has been caught lying in it's claims that it uses American parts, fabric and materials,) he used another company, Ace Specialties:
"Mr. Trump spent $114,000 to stage an enormous rally in September in Dallas, even though Texas does not hold its primary until March. He spent about $2 million on hats, T-shirts and other merchandise, roughly half of it going to a Louisiana-based company, Ace Specialties, owned by a board member of Mr. Trumps sons charitable foundation. During the last half of 2015, Mr. Trumps campaign spent more on renting stages and audiovisual equipment ($1.4 million) than on voter lists, field offices and collecting signatures to get onto ballots ($1.2 million.)"
