The most Politically Significant Name is Tom Ridge

Of the 50 Republican National Security experts who denounced Donald Trump as dangerous, none is more important, politically, than former Pennsylvania Republican Governor, Tom Ridge. He validates the suburban Republican voters around Philadelphia and Harrisburg. Hillary already leads by an astounding 40 points among this group. With Tom Ridge against Trump, that will solidify that vote and block any chance of Trump carrying the Keystone State. Without Pennsylvania, there is no path to victory for the Orange Asshole.

left the democratic party over the civil rights work in the 60's...which had a profound effect on national politics moving forward from that day

The party wouldn't let him because Ridge was insufficiently far-right on social issues.
Karma and all that.

Ridge would have been a solid Repub contender. Now he's just not extreme enough. I can't figure how he's even still around. They've mostly flushed his kind from the party.

Ironically, if he were actually running as the Repub candidate in this race he'd probably have a good chance of beating Hillary. JMHO.

I should add: I'm not a Ridge fan, but he is that rare bird - a sane Republican.

The socially moderate northeast Republican is an endangered species these days. They just don't make Republicans like they used to.

He was my governor when I grew up in PA and was good for a republican.

So, I don't give a f*ck what positions he took on issues. He's not running. I don't have to vote for him, he's bringing us votes. In the end, the winner is the one with the most votes.

The most important thing about politics is math.

His speaking out against Drumpf will have a huge impact. Thank you Tom.

Personally I don't think much of him, but a good deed is a good deed.
