Donald Trump has Released his Tax Returns in the Past----for Casino Licenses

Donald Trump has released his tax returns, while they were under audit, as part of trying to obtain a casino license in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

I guess obtaining a casino license is more important to Trump than becoming President of the United States. What this article prove is that Trump is full of shit that he can't release tax returns under audit. It's obvious that that's just an excuse and that he's hiding something that he doesn't want anyone to see. Why can't we obtain these copies from the Gaming Control Boards of the two states under the Freedom of Information Act (FOYA)?

<snip>Washington (CNN) — Donald Trump insists he won't release his tax returns during his 2016 presidential run because those returns are the subject of ongoing Internal Revenue Service audits.

When he's had casinos on the line, it's been a different story

Trump has handed over tax returns in the midst of audits before -- to state gambling officials in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as part of the process of seeking casino licenses in those states.

The returns haven't been publicly accessible, but they were used by the state investigators who reviewed those applications.<snip>

Running for president is just a publicity stunt. A stunt that backfired horribly.

Since FOIA requests only include those documents created on behalf of governmental work and does not include private documents filed with the government, that is off the table. Though, someone in the NJ and PA gambling boards could leak these documents. Given the fact that Trump hasn't qualified for a gambling license in years, I am sure that the submitted Tax Return forms are utterly awful.

5. No law exists barring people from releasing their tax returns during an audit

NPR spoke with three tax experts, two of whom wanted to talk on background only. They included one former high-ranking government official.

Their conclusion: No law exists barring people from releasing their tax returns during an audit.

“Nothing prevents individuals from sharing their own tax information,” the IRS said in a statement.

But while tax law does not prevent Trump from releasing his returns, waiting until his audit is completed may be beneficial, experts said.

“It might not be smart” for Trump to release his returns while under audit, said Robert Kovacev, a tax lawyer at Steptoe & Johnson and a former counsel in the Justice Department’s tax division.

If Trump releases his returns and the media focuses on certain transactions, the IRS may then scrutinize those transactions as well, even if the agency otherwise would not have done so or the transactions were innocuous, Kovacev added.

... Trump said shortly after the debate that the IRS may be targeting him because he is Christian. But the IRS said they do not audit people based on their religion and politics.

Given the baloney that is likely in those tax returns, I'm sure it wouldn't be smart for him whether or not he is being audited. Baloney like the IRS is after him because he is a Christian.

there are documents pertaining to his IRS tax returns and his business ventures I would fair to guess, since the plaintiffs are seeking "all" information on his business dealings with the U.

And as for David Cay Johnston book: The Making of Trump, he, the trumpster had to release those returns for the GFE of New Jersey. They pretty much didn't do there job which is another matter for discussion.

While reading the book, I not only do I read what the trumpster is all about, but I see Richard Nixon, that's what scary, its not what you know, but who you know

8. I've never heard tRump answer the question - WHY IS HE BEING AUDITED

If any other individual running for elected office were the subject of an IRS audit that would be a huge deal for their opponent. For tRump it seems to be the normal way of doing business.
